PTI will nurture future leadership in educational institutions: Imran Khan
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that the student wings of political parties had caused a severe blow to academic activities by indulging in illegal activities at educational institutions, but his party will use its student members to nurture the future leadership of the country.
Khan had been invited by PTI’s student wing, Insaf Students Federation (ISF), to address students from different institutions at a local hall in Lahore.
“The biggest thing which we have to do once we come into power is the enforcement of ‘Education Emergency’ in the country. PTI youth should never let education get affected and never get tempted to gather weapons or make mafias like other student associations,” Khan added.
“Charles Dickens once said about the French Revolution ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’. This is exactly what the condition of Pakistan is today. This is the worst time for the country and the best time as there is a silver lining at the end of the tunnel. The name of that light and change is PTI,” Khan said.
Imran Khan in his address urged the students and youth to join hands with him if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government does not comply with the Supreme Court’s order regarding Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s conviction.
“If the prime minister’s appeal in SC is done and the government does not accept the court’s decision, PTI will march towards Islamabad. This will be the biggest march in the history of this country which would be led by the youth,” he said. “This tsunami will not only take away Gilani, but will also deprive President Asif Ali Zardari of his chair.”
Khan said ISF and PTI youth will start a membership campaign from Lahore in a few days, adding that some five million to 10 million people will be made members of the party.
“Once you are a PTI member, you can elect its leadership. This means that you (the youth) can become leaders yourself if you bring in more people to PTI and then contest party elections.”
“In all other parties, politics of dynasties is prevalent. If you don’t have Sharif in your surname you cannot come on top in PML-N, and you have to add Bhutto to your name to be the PPP leader despite being a Zardari. The same situation is in ANP and JUI-F of Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” he maintained.
